Intro to Linocut – Print Workshop

Turn a drawing into a lino block print – an introductory workshop where you will learn to transfer images to lino, carve and then print.
A great experience for beginners or anyone wanting to refresh their relief printing skills in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Please note that it is a requirement to bring a sketch /design with you to the workshop, we will not have time to draw from scratch. (I can however help change a design to work as a print on the day.) High contrast images work well for this medium. we will be working with a5 sized plates so please create your designs with this in mind.

Hosted by Mark Phobos
Mark Phobos (Mark Graham) is a Northland based artist whose practice spans drawing, printmaking, and digital painting. Mark has years of experience in relief printing as both an artist and a tutor. His intricate works create immersive visual worlds where beauty and decay coexist. Through delicate linework and layered compositions, recurring motifs—including serpents, flowers, webs, and relic-like forms—evoke cycles of growth, collapse, protection, and renewal.

🎨🍷 SIP & CANVAS, NO RULES 🍷🎨

At Eyes on Fire, we like to do things a little differently. We don’t love too many rules, because creativity is at the heart of everything we do. 🔥

So forget painting the “right” picture. This is about following your instincts, getting curious and seeing what happens when you let colour lead the way.

We’ll sip, paint and explore intuitive painting, with a little introduction to the psychology of colour and the emotions, memories and energy different colours can bring up.

Choose a colour you love. Try one you normally avoid. Make a mark without knowing why. Then see where it takes you.

No experience needed. No rules. No judgement.

Just wine, colour, music, creativity and a canvas that is entirely yours. ✨

🍷 $60 per person
